Interesting research… Raising caring kids is a goal most parents strive for, and one that’s becoming increasingly challenging given the violence, in media and real-life, that children are inevitably exposed to these days. There is some good news, though. While researchers once believed that kids had to learn to care, it seems they may possess [...]
What did Adam say to his wife on the night before Christmas? “It’s Christmas Eve.” Tomorrow I’m preaching on Simeon blessing the Christ-child in the temple. I’m presenting the sermon as a monologue which includes the background to the redemption and purification ceremonies and also Simeon’s response to seeing Jesus. Later in the evening we [...]
There’s a story told of an infant-school nativity play where one little boy was desperate to play the part of Joseph. The day came when the teacher announced the parts and the little boy was NOT chosen to play Joseph. However, he was asked to play the role of innkeeper. Even though he had been [...]
Come Celebrate, originally uploaded by domainviva. I have posted a few photos from our MOPS (Mothers Of PreSchoolers) children’s program. I used a sheep puppet (Baaanabas) and a camel puppet (Kismit) to tell some of the Christmas story to the young children.
A little boy and girl were singing their favourite Christmas carol, “Silent Night”. The boy concluded the rendition with the words, “Sleep in heavenly beans.” His sister quickly corrected him: “It’s not beans, it’s peas.”
The reason for the Advent season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent or Coming, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent or Coming. We look forward to both, and remember that Christ could return at any time, and we must [...]
I believe in Jesus Christ and in the beauty of the gospel begun in Bethlehem. I believe in the one whose spirit glorified a little town; and whose spirit still brings music to persons all over the world, in towns both large and small. I believe in the one for whom the crowded inn could [...]
